Looking for a new way to practice your Hebrew, but cannot sit through another lesson at ulpan, listen to the news, or read the dictionary?
Well, Israeli TV may just be the perfect solution for you.
There is really good TV out there, and we’ve got you covered on the whole spectrum of perfectly riveting Israeli films and shows.
Check out some of our favorite suspenseful and jaw-dropping Israeli action TV shows- Tehran and Manayek.
But sometimes the suspenseful, police-chasing, terrorist-stopping TV is a bit too exhausting, a bit too thrilling for us. All we want is to cuddle up on the couch with a nice cup of tea and a feel-good, goofy, and enchanting Israeli love story.
Cue ‘Beauty and The Baker’, or להיות איתה in Hebrew, the story of two star-crossed Israeli lovers, who find their way together against all odds.
Amos, a simple man from Bat Yam who works as a baker at his family store, is a hopeless romantic in a relationship with the wrong girl. Noa, a world-famous Israeli singer, and model, is recently broken-hearted and searching for meaning and love. Chance has them meet, and the rest is history.
Watch a little sneak peek here:
The two have instant chemistry. But problems arise as Amos struggles with the insecurity of being the ‘simple man’ and is stopped at all costs from getting too close to Noa, by her conniving manager. Noa, going through an identity crisis herself, struggles between the whims and spontaneity of the good life, and the safety and joy of a life of meaning.
Sound spicy? You’ll have to watch for yourself to find out what happens!
Beauty and the Baker is the entertaining, light-hearted, and fun Israeli TV we have been waiting to settle down to after a long day of work. The characters are quirky and endearing, and the storyline is sweet and intriguing, with a bonus of some good and amusing ulpan classes.
