Hagalah - הַגְעָלָה

Pronunciation: Hag·'a·lah

Literal translation: Making dishes kosher by immersion in boiling water

Passover means no hametz (leavened bread) for the entire holiday and that also includes all the dishes and utensils that touched hametz. Not everyone wants to buy a whole new set of dishes for Passover so instead, Jews can make their pots, pans, and utensils kosher for Passover by immersing them in HUGE vats of boiling water.
