Kapara - כַּפָּרָה

Pronunciation: Ka·pa·ra

Literal translation: Atonement, forgiveness

Kapara has plenty of meaning in Hebrew. Besides the literal meaning of forgiveness, if you refer to someone as Kapara, you are either calling them your honey or loved one, or, depending on your tone, it can also be used if you are mad at them and you want to condescend them.

A Kapara is also a Jewish custom before the High Holidays, where one takes a chicken or money and transfers your sins to them. The money is then given to charity and the chicken, well let's just say you don't really run into the chicken custom these days...
